Abbot Kinney Hotel

This project reinterprets Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of the "textile block," using a modular system of bricks to explore pattern, light, and materiality at an architectural scale.

The design began with an off-the-shelf breeze block featuring a simple floral motif. By iterating on the petal geometry, we developed a family of blocks, some perforated to filter light, others solid to provide privacy and enclosure, allowing a single system to adapt across a range of programmatic needs.

The intent was to reposition an ordinary concrete unit as a refined architectural element, with applications ranging from residential facades to high-end hospitality, as demonstrated in our proposal for a luxury hotel on Abbot Kinney in Venice, California.
